Dr. Al Qassim is a UAE national and an Associate Professor of International Law at the College of Law, UAE University. Dr. Al Qassim graduated from the UAE University with LLB degree, obtained LLM from Temple University, Philadelphia, USA and received his doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in International Human Rights Law from the University of Durham, UK.
He holds significant administrative and academic positions in the UAE University including Vice Dean of the College.
He has authored several articles on various legal issues and given presentations on numerous occasions in the Middle East. Dr. Al Qassim is a member of numerous national and international committees relevant to his area of interest. He participated in drafting several Federal legislations and regulations.
Dr. Al Qassim advises clients on issues related to the UAE law. He represents the UAE in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Legal Defense Team since 2000 in which he has effectively participated in providing consultations and legal argumentations with regard to various issues such as the doctrines of State Immunities and the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act in antitrust law suits brought before US Courts. He speaks Arabic and English.
